What is Thalassemia?

Thalassemia is a genetic blood illness that causes the body to have fewer red blood cells and less oxygen-carrying protein (haemoglobin) than usual.

Thalassemia Symptoms:

Fatigue, weakness, paleness, and delayed development are some of the symptoms.

Why thalassaemic patients need regular blood transfusion?

Thalassaemia causes patient’s body to have less haemoglobin than normal, Severe cases thalassemia necessitate blood transfusions or a stem-cell transplant from a donor. Increasing the number of red blood cells in the body to deliver oxygen is one technique to cure anaemia.

Blood Transfusion Therapy

The fundamental principles in the protocol for regular administration of red blood cells to patients with thalassaemia are appropriate transfusion treatment goals and optimal transfused blood safety.
